In the world of Software Automation, you might have heard of terms like “Intelligent Automation”, “Smart Automation” or other Jargon, these terms collectively have been classified by the term “Robotic Process Automation” or RPA. In fact, the RPA is now being used as an umbrella term for all types of software automation solutions needless of the Industry.
For the last 16 years, we have been designing & implementing the software automation solutions in various sectors like Banking, Financial Institutions, Media Organizations, Telecommunications and so on, and most of these solutions (like VBA-based scripted automation, Screen-scraping etc) would take too much of the time & resources to complete. These customized solutions generally have a long delivery cycle. Along with this traditional approach of providing customized automation Solutions, we tried providing integrated solutions with many early automation tools but these tools had their own limitations in terms of features and functionality. With the advent of RPA tools, our search for a complete all-round Automation Tool narrowed down to few Products and these RPA tools come with its own set of unique features to address our pain areas. Speaking about the various RPA tools or products (or Software Robots) available in the market today we are exclusively going to talk about the ProcessRobot by Softomotive.
“With the advent of RPA tools, our search for a complete all-round Automation Tool narrowed down to few Products and these RPA tools come with its own set of unique features to address our pain areas”
In a nutshell, Robotic Process Automation has come as a boon for all of the industries as these evolved products are much simpler to implement, saving precious time to market, reducing operational costs besides providing a significant increase in productivity and efficiency. Most significant advancement is the “almost code free” nature of RPA which differentiates it from the early automation products. You can view a data-table here to understand the complete Evolution of RPA.
In fact, Softomotive came out with ProcessRobot (an Enterprise Automation product) much later than their popular flagship RPA product “Winautomation”. ProcessRobot is one of the most advanced and evolved RPA product available in the market today as it has seen the “much highs and lows” of the Automation Industry through the eyes of Winautomation. It’s quite obvious why Everest Research Group rated Softomotive as a “Star Performer” in their report. The infographic below shows the evolution timeline of ProcessRobot/Softomotive.

According to the “Forrester Wave RPA Q1 2017” Kofax, Contextor and Softomotive are the strong Contenders in the Enterprise RPA market today. Softomotive also features among the 12 most significant RPA providers along with Uipath, Workfusion, Blue Prism and the likes. Forrester Wave also points out that the Governance & Analytics will play a key role in the RPA market in future.
At Greysoft, we have been approached by many of the Organizations, to get to know about the “RPA Implementation Process” or to know exactly how RPA may assist them in their digital transformation journey. Most of the time the Clients have numerous questions in mind with respect to the impact of RPA implementation on their CAPEX/OPEX, Productivity, Efficiency, Accuracy, and Profitability. Software Automation was just a tactical solution for a part or function within the Organization but Robotic Process Automation is being considered as a Strategic Solution because of its Enterprise-wide application capability.

Sometimes the executives demand a sponsorship i.e they request us to make an exclusive business case (POC) for their selected business process so that they could gauge the product capabilities which in turns helps them in the decision-making process. There have been cases wherein an organization already using a different RPA product had requested us for a POC, it didn’t come as a much surprise that for the same old process we were able to give much-improved efficiency & output with ProcessRobot as compared to the existing RPA product. With reduced time and calculated costs in the demo, ProcessRobot played a pivotal role and outperformed the already present RPA product. Registration for a Live RPA Demo can be done here.

“And it’s not always about saving resources,” said a CXO while we were having a discussion about an RPA solution for them, he further emphasized that the accuracy of the data is the more important thing for their organization. It’s true that the Robots accurately execute the data-operations to eliminate the need for the 4 eye authentication processes. Data accuracy is the top priority sought by all the large organizations for the critical business processes. Afterall data has become the most valuable asset of this century.

Now talking about the RPA products and their similarities, most of the RPA products have the similar types of modules but named differently, for example, attended or unattended software robots are the type of robots which can be implemented from any RPA platform signifying the level of human intervention needed by the robots. In ProcessRobot they go by the name of SoloBots (unattended) and SideBots (attended). SoloBots and SideBots are the two types of Software Robots that can support any type of automation scenario and the implementation strategy can vary from business case to business case.
In the executive world, the timeline for the strategy/implementation of any Business Process Management (BPM) Suite can take ages, but an RPA implementation can be very quick as “Robots work on an existing system” without demanding any additional software or technology. Actually, Robots form an invisible bridge between different softwares, systems, and technologies making the impossible happen, and solving the business problems by working 24/7. Here is one of the RPA Use Case () where one can find the exact process and understand the working of a Software Robot in a better way.

The ProcessRobot RPA Suite can work on any framework like Desktop, Web, Java, Citrix, Mainframe etc. The “Control Desk” in ProcessRobot can be used to centrally manage the Robots and monitor their individual performance, this gives us an additional security and creates more room for the scalability of the virtual workforce. ProcessRobot thus can be implemented even on a very small scale to get the fastest ROI possible. It also provides a good price point compared to the rest in the field. In fact, the ProcessRobot excels ahead with the built-in integration for the major Cognitive services provided by Microsoft, Google and IBM Watson. It can also connect with most of the CRM/HRM/ERP like Salesforce, Peoplesoft, etc. Recently we had an opportunity to provide a ProcessRobot Solution based around SAP.

Finally, here is an infographic which shows some of the unique features of ProcessRobot like Concurrency, OCR, Active Directory Integration, Load Balancing, Central management, Triggering, Robot Scheduler, Web Recorder, & Custom KPIs. There are more features which we would like to talk about in the future.
So, let’s end this journey with the conclusion in mind that the Robots are here to help executives deliver better results with the same infrastructure.
